The Sacrament of Marriage (or Holy Matrimony) is the intimate union and equal partnership of a man and a woman. Holy Matrimony is a grace-filled encounter with God and a way to holiness.
As such, preparing for marriage is about more than just planning a wedding, so here at St. Louis King of France, we take seriously our role in preparing couples for this sacrament.
Engaged couples should contact the parish office at least 6 months prior to the date they wish to be married.
If the wedding is out of town, and especially if out of the country, couples should start 9 months prior to their date to insure the completed marriage file clears diocesan tribunals both here and at their destination.
The first step in Marriage Preparation is to fill out the Marriage Preparation Form below.
Submit your Marriage Preparation form.
Once you have submitted the form, please allow 1 to 2 business days for a response. If you have questions, please contact [email protected].
Attend Marriage Preparation Classes - One in the Lord
One in the Lord is our parish program for engaged couples, offered several times a year in a series of seven sessions each. The Diocese also offers classes or retreat weekends. All programs include speakers on topics such as Communication, Spirituality, Family Life and Fertility, Readiness, and much more. Each program offers couples the opportunity to discuss these topics within the context of their own relationship.
Schedule sessions with clergy
Meet with clergy to prepare a marriage file in 2-4 appointments.
Once you’ve submitted the Marriage Preparation Form, we will contact you with additional information as well as your Clergy assignment. The deacon or priest will determine your freedom to marry based on any prior marriages you may have. He will also work with you to prepare the following items for your marriage file:
Pre-nuptial questionnaire.
Sacramental records.
Dispensations (if necessary).
Affidavits of Free Status.
Online assessment (Prepare/Enrich or FOCCUS).
Marriage Preparation Class Certificate.
As soon as your wedding is scheduled, please notify the wedding coordinator whether music is desired for your planned ceremony. Most weddings that take place within Mass do require music, and usually an instrumentalist and a Cantor. Marriage Ceremonies outside of Mass (including convalidations) may include music if desired, but it is not required.
In general, most English-language weddings at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church include an organist and Cantor, with the optional addition of other instruments. Other combinations are possible and may be arranged by the wedding music coordinator.
We are thrilled to assist you in this process as you move closer in your union to each other for the glory of God. St. Louis King of France Catholic Church is committed to providing liturgy which leads people closer to God through music. Our ministry takes this responsibility very seriously and will work diligently in guiding you through planning the music for your wedding. You have our heartiest congratulations.
For English-language weddings, please fill out the Wedding Music Planner form and select music and readings from the various categories. On this form, you may also indicate your desire for the hiring of any additional musicians to enhance your wedding. A paper copy of the planner form was included in your initial packet for your convenience.
Las bodas en español: comuníquese con la oficina de la iglesia para contactarse con el líder adecuado.
At any time, you may contact our Principal Organist, Jill Nennmann, with any questions, special requests, or to set up a face-to-face meeting to plan your music.
Because the Catholic wedding liturgy has a particular format and structure, we generally do not allow musicians outside the approved St. Louis Catholic Church musician list to serve as the principal musicians in leading the musical liturgy of the Mass or ceremony. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact our Principal Organist with any questions you may have.
Special requests for other family members who wish to sing one song or other instrumentalists are decided on a case-by-case basis but must be approved by the Music Ministry Associate or their representative and, ultimately, your celebrating priest or the Pastor of the Parish. Generally, guest musicians are limited to performing as part of the Prelude or post-Communion music. All requests for guest musicians MUST be submitted at least 21 days before the wedding day.
In the instance that a substitute organist or musician(s) is approved by the Director of Sacred Music, a bench fee for the Principal Organist will be required. This means that the Principal Organist is paid in addition to the outside musician which you hire, if that musician is approved.
Fees:
• Organist: $350
• Cantor: $200
• Guitarra/Cantor y Piano: $500
• Coro: $500
– The fees cover all music for the ceremony including preludes, processionals, eucharistic acclamations, hymns, solos, and a recessional
– Our fees and musicians will provide the highest quality performance for your wedding. Our music ministry contracts only the very best musicians
– Musicians do not typically attend your rehearsal, as it is important for participants to hear and understand the instructions provided. If the musician is requested to attend, and is available, an additional $50 fee will be required.
– If requested, a professional consultation about the music with the Principal Organist or their representative
Fees are paid directly to each musician by check, cash, or in many cases Venmo. The list of contracted musician names and corresponding fees will be sent to the wedding couple after they are assigned.
All fees are due no later than 7 days prior to the date of your wedding and are non-refundable. If this deadline cannot be met, please contact the Principal Organist or their representative as soon as possible.
Should the wedding start 15 minutes later than the scheduled time for any reason out of the control of SLKF an additional $75 late fee per contracted musician will be added to your invoice and is due 24 hours after the wedding.
St. Louis King of France Catholic Church holds the right to modify these policies without prior notice.
