Dear Families,
Each year St. Louis Catholic School will have a theme and a patron saint of focus to celebrate through the school year. The theme is incorporated in student activities, service, and classwork. The intent is to bring the students, faculty, staff, and parents together with a common faith focal point.
This year's theme aligns with the desire for programming specific to strengthening our school's Catholic identity. Beginning in 2023-2024 school year, we will incorporate a virtue curriculum introducing a new virtue each month with the Disciple of Christ Education in Virtue in program and other resources. The virtue program will not be a "one and done" program that will lose application after this year, but rather a living program that will be integral part of who we are, a habit of doing good. As a pair to this program our theme for the school year will be Journey with Christ a Walk in the Virtues.
We have selected St. Louis IX, King of France to be our "focus saint" of study. In his life he exemplified a virtuous life in his charisms, thus making him a top choice. Over the school year we will learn more about the virtues and St. Louis' royal mission to share an eternal life with God for public veneration and imitation.
On behalf of the faculty and staff of St. Louis Catholic School, we wish each family a wonderful 2023-2024 school year!
Many Blessings,
Gospel of Luke 9:1-6
Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He said to them, "Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic.
Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there. And as for those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them."
Then they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the good news and curing diseases everywhere.
