The Sacrament of Reconciliation, also known as Confession, has three elements: conversion, confession, and celebration. In it, the faithful are absolved from sins committed after baptism and they are reconciled with the Christian community. Through Reconciliation we find God's unconditional forgiveness; and as a result, we are called to forgive others.
Confession is a beautiful sacrament, which can free a person from sin and establish a new path of conversion. However, to fully embrace this gift and receive the sacrament of penance one must be baptized in the Catholic Church and properly catechized. O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you, and I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell; but most of all because they offend you, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.
At St.Louis Catholic Church, the confessionals are located next to the chapel doors on the far North and South ends of the church narthex.
Children who are already baptized prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, also known as Confession, starting in the 1st grade and receive the sacrament in the 2nd grade. Older children, teens, and adults can still prepare for the sacrament through our R.C.I.A program - Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (adapted for children and youth).
